The Art of Ebony — Where Cabinetry Meets Horology
A fine watch deserves a setting as considered as the movement inside it. URORO's ebony cabinets are hand-finished by master craftsmen using techniques that pre-date the wristwatch itself. The result is more than storage — it is a quiet companion piece worthy of any private library.
A Wood with a Memory
Genuine ebony (Diospyros) is among the densest, slowest-growing hardwoods on earth. Each plank we select has rested for a minimum of three years before turning, ensuring the wood has fully released its tension. The grain darkens further with age, gaining depth like a well-cellared wine.
Eight Hands, Eleven Coats
Each URORO ebony cabinet receives eleven hand-applied coats of clear lacquer over four to six weeks. Between layers, the surface is wet-sanded to 2,000 grit. The final pass is buffed with goat-hair wheels until light pools rather than reflects.
Brass Hardware, Old World Joinery
Hinges are solid brushed brass; corners are dovetailed; the lock cylinder is forged in a small atelier outside Kyoto. There are no plastics inside the cabinet — ever.
A Lifetime, Considered
From the 1-slot personal piece to the 24-slot collector vault, URORO ebony cabinets are designed to outlast the watches they hold. Pass them down. Re-finish them. Add to them.
